Letter number three
Camp Strong, Davenport, Ia. December 18, 1862
Well Mothere I thought that I would get my likeness taken today for it is a
nice day for that business. Well Mother I think that those pictures are
natural as life. I send those pictures so you can see how I look till I come
home again. Well Mother the rest of our company has not come this evening. If
I had known this I should have stayed a few days longer.Well Mother I feel
better tonight than I have since I left home. Well Mother I got my minature
to send to Sari. I will send it to her right away. Mother I want you to write
and let me know if you think those pictures is natural or not. For my part I
do not think they can be beat for looking natural. Well Mother there is part
of our co. just came in awhile ago and the rest of them come tonight except a
few of them that is not able to come. The picture that I got for Sari I am
standing up with my drum.Mothere this picture and case cost me $2.50. I think
they was not very deare. I must stop writing for the present. So no more
