Letter number twenty-six

Columbus, Ky Wednesday morning, Jan 20th, 1864
Well Mother, I ain't quite done writing yet. While I was a planning for guard
mounting this morning the orderly brought me a letter and as luck would have
it, it was your letter of the 14th. I am glad that I got it before I sealed
my letter. Mother I got your first letter a day or two ago. It was a long
time a coming. Mother I loaned my money out for fear that I would spend it.
We signed the pay rolls yesterday morning. Eliza you wanted to know if I have
been sick. I have not been sick since I got out of the Fort. I guess me and
Bib has played our cards. I haven't had a letter from her since summer. I
wrote for my minature but it never came. I got a letter from F _? Baker the
other night. He says that Bib is a having a big time a going to dances this
winter. He said Joe Nelson was home on a furlough. I haven't heard from Dad
since you left home. I would like to know what he is doing. Eliza I got a
note last night from a young lady. She wanted me to come down and see her
before I left. Jimmy I guess that I will send you my cap. It is rather too
small for me. I want you to take care of that album of photographs. Well
Eliza I hate to leave our good house. Such is a soldiers luck. I must close
for the present. Your truly, Frank W. Kimble Write soon
Jimmy I thought that I would send you a Sesh dollar so you could see what
they look like. This is one that I got on the Mississippi march last Feb. F.W.
