Letters of Francis William Kimble

Presented by the Iowa Civil War Site
Letter number forty-six
Columbia, IL Sunday, June 11, 1865
Dear Mother, I read your scrap that was in Sate's letter. It found me well
and right side up with care. I was about half sick for about 3 weeks after I
got to Ills., but feel much better now, not any too well yet, though I guess
I will wear it out. My month will be up Wednesday next. When you get this,
send me my discharge. Put it in a large envelope and back it plain. It will
come all right. Sate got a letter from John the other day and he said he
thought he would be home the 4th of July but I don't think he will. Did Dad
ever find the skiff. Do you know if Mr. Nowel got married yet or not. Is Jim
Watkins out of the service. Does Molly Turner get that box anymore that she
got coming from Nelsons that evening. Has Perry paid you the three dollars
yet. Well I must go to meeting. Go all day. Send that soon. Your son F.
