May 7th 1830 This day I lift my hand and pen a Hiram C. Deeds. Dear brother and sister, I take this opportunity to let you know that I am well at present and wishing these few lines might find you in the same state of health. I left Pittsburgh the 2 of May. This day I am in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am going to New Orleans 9th of May. I am on a steam boat. 25 dollars per month when I get to the city of New Orleans if I get to lay brick. I wont come home til new years. There is no more at present. I send the best of my respects to all of them.
My master is going to Boston. I couldnt get no more than 5 dollars a month. Dear sister, I send this as a present to you, for perhaps it will be some time till I see you. I send the best of my respects to Elizabeth and Br[?] Ruter. Hiram Deeds Contributed by:
