January the 18 1831 Dear and affectionate son, I now take this opportunity to inform you that I am in the land of the living and that God has restored me my health to this period of timeas yet so many has been taken from time to eternity and that John and Mary and the children are in tolerable good health, excepting one of the boys, and he is very poorly at this time. I got along my journey very well as far as Boliver and met with friends all along my journey and was treated exceedingly well. When I arrived in Boliver. I had not been there more than 2 days when I got word of a boat and got along until the third day and was taken sick, but I soon got over it and got along with comfort until I arrived in Newark, and then I met with some difficulty before I got here. I got home on the 29 of November, and I have been down to your grandfather since, and he is very smart, and his old lady is in good health. I want you to write as soon as possible and let me know how the 2 girls are and whether you have heard anything from Hiram. Since I left theirs, I have met with an acquaintance from Virginia and have heard from uncle (?), and he was well and family last summer. He Was George Curtand, a grandson to Paul Curtand, and I have heard f rom a number of friends and acquaintances, and I intend going to see them before I return, and with this I conclude. Respectfully yours Deborah deeds Contributed by:
