Photos of Iowa Regimental Soldiers - Identities Unknown

Photo's 1 thru 6 were submitted by George Morrisey

They think one may be Matt Brown & one may be James A Coe

Some photo's were taken by JH Emerson Photographer of Keokuk. Others may have been taken

while they were stationed in New Orleans.

Matt Brown enlisted in Lewis Cass County

CO B of 23rd Iowa but not 100% sure

My family has possession of a copy of the picture #4 that you need identified. On the back of our picture is this notation:

23 IA

May 17, 1863 killed at Black River Bridge, Miss

This picture is in the Ross family bible that my mother has possession of.  It was passed to her by default as my great-great grandmother 2nd husband was a Ross and there were no children that we are aware of.  We don't know why this picture is in the bible as to our knowledge he is not related.  We do have a relation (not direct) that served with Col Kinsman in the 23rd.
