IOWA FIRST INFANTRY

Comprised of 959 officers and men. Of these 13 were killed, 13 died, 141 were wounded and 3 were missing.

This regiment was enlisted for three months and was mustered in under the first call of the President. It was mustered into service May 14, 1861, at Keokuk. It participated in the Battle of Wilson's Creek, Aug. 10, 1861, and lost 10 killed and 50 wounded. It was mustered out of service Aug.25, 1861,at St. Louis.
