William Himes born Abt 1840 Marion Co., IL. died of cancer 9-2-1899 San Francisco CA. Enlisted 9-3-1861 in Knoxville Iowa, mustered in 9-14-1861 in Keokuk Iowa, re-enlisted 1-1-1864 in Little Rock AR. mustered out 8-9-1865 in Atlanta GA.

Served in Co., K 3rd Iowa Cavalry as a Blacksmith.

Photo taken by Quint 389 Broadway ST.. Louis MO. The background in used in the photos, was used by Ansel R. Butts or Chris Butts photographers at Benton Barracks St. Louis Mo., Hundreds of photos were taken in front of this background. At the present time I have two more and have had others. The cannon on the background was added later in the war as early photos due not have it.
