Zachariah Thomas
6th Iowa Infantry

Zachariah Thomas. Thomas enlisted with the 6th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He served the ENTIRE war, was promoted 3 times for bravery, went in as a private and out as commissioned as Lieutenant. He fought 27 battles and was wounded in Macon. Even wounded Thomas stayed with his unit! Some of the battles that he participated in were Shiloh, Chickasaw, Bayon, Deer Creek, Snyders Bluff, Vicksburg, Jackson, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain etc. Thomas was a life long resident of Bloomsburg Pennsylvania.
