The 14th Regiment of Iowa Volunteer Infantry heads for home. In almost four years of service, the regiment lost 5 Officers and 59 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded, and 1 Officer and 138 Enlisted men from disease. Total 203. |

1882 |
First Sergeant Valentine L. Spawr, Co. C, 14th Iowa dies in Iroquois County, Illinois at the age of 47. |
Apr. 23, 1887 |
Third Sergeant Peter Wilson, Co. G, 14th Iowa dies in Traer, Iowa of pneumonia at the age of 51. |
Apr. 15, 1901 |
Chaplain (Captain) Frederick F. Kiner, 14th Iowa dies in Marshalltown, Iowa at the age of 68. |
1934
Jan. 15, 1934 |
2nd Corporal Benjamin Randall Smutz, Co. H, 14th Iowa, dies of old age at 95 in Hillsboro, Iowa. He was the last surviving member of the 14th Iowa Regiment. |
