How you can use your Rec Center THE WATERLOO RECREATION & ARTS CENTER is a unique facility highlighting the community's commitment to the educational and cultural enrichment of the metro area. The community facility is the result of a cooperative effort by the City of Waterloo, and hundreds of individuals, corporations, and civic groups who donated time, materials, and monies towards its completion in 1965. In 1978 the Workshop Wing was completed and in early 1990 the new Exhibition Gallery and Lecture Hall addition was open to the public. In addition to the wide range of programs offered at the Center, it housed many of the major arts organizati0ons in the community including the Waterloo Museum of Art, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony, Junior Art Gallery, and the Waterloo Community Playhouse. THE WATERLOO RECREATION & ARTS CENTER is your building, owned and operated by the City of Waterloo. It is centrally located downtown offering a unique setting overlooking the scenic Cedar River. Rooms are available on a rental basis for all types of occasions. Sixty community , leisure-time, and special interest groups use the facility as their meeting place on a regular year round basis. You, too, can take advantage of the Center's facilities.
